A conference is a collection of meetings arranged in a programme, with a number of people invited as speakers, and other information fields typical of large congresses or social events (registration, list of organisations that support or sponsor the event, etc.).
Examples: A conference can be a relevant event for an organization and its members, or take place as part of a participatory process or follow a consultation.
Introduction
These fifth conference sessions aim to highlight the voices from different areas of society — politics, academia, civil society, business — that are carrying out or proposing projects and research which we consider an advance in the field of digital rights related to video games.
Details
The conference series addresses the relationship between video games, democracy, and digital rights. Through a multidisciplinary approach, it explores the transformative capabilities of video games as well as the challenges they present. Video games are considered both cultural and technological elements, as well as tools for civic participation and resistance against the loss of rights. Additionally, their role in the dispute between their environmental impact and their potential to generate alternative discourses is discussed. It highlights how, despite their origin in a capitalist context, video games have evolved as means of resistance, giving voice to underrepresented identities.
