03 May @ 2024 Per determinar

A conference is a collection of meetings arranged in a programme, with a number of people invited as speakers, and other information fields typical of large congresses or social events (registration, list of organisations that support or sponsor the event, etc.).

Examples: A conference can be a relevant event for an organization and its members, or take place as part of a participatory process or follow a consultation.

A brunch discussion with international political professionals looking at the future of democratic innovation in Europe and worldwide.

The European Democracy Hub is hosting a stakeholder dialogue in the framework of the Exploring Worldwide Democratic Innovations Project, in collaboration with the Innovation in Politics Awards in May 2024.
While democratic innovations have grown in popularity in recent years, outside Europe different regions and countries have long experimented with democratic innovations. This discussion will be looking at the future of democratic innovation in Europe and in the world, drawing on lessons learnt from democratic innovations developed and applied outside Europe.
Dr Thamy Pogrebinschi, senior researcher at the Center for Civil Society Research WZB, and an expert on democratic innovations in Latin America, will be opening the discussion. Key questions:

  • What are the key barriers that are faced by new democratic practices in moving into the mainstream of politics?

  • Which innovations provide us with a real window of opportunity in terms of revitalizing democracy? What are some of the most successful innovations? What are some of the most exciting new developments?

This project was supported by the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
