Help

A conference is a collection of meetings arranged in a programme, with a number of people invited as speakers, and other information fields typical of large congresses or social events (registration, list of organisations that support or sponsor the event, etc.).

Examples: A conference can be a relevant event for an organization and its members, or take place as part of a participatory process or follow a consultation.

Introduction

Join the Goethe Institut in Barcelona and FES Democracy of the Future for an insightful discussion on the motivations behind voters supporting candidates who violate democratic norms.

Details

What motivates voters to support candidates who violate democratic norms? In recent years, incumbents have gradually undermined democratic institutions and shifted power relations to their advantage. Despite this, many such politicians continue to enjoy the support of their constituents. At the Goethe Institut in Barcelona and in cooperation with the Innovation in Politics Institute, Elena Avramovska, researcher on Democracy, Society, and Youth at FES Democracy and Future, will present the findings of FES Democracy of the Future's report 'Identity, Partisanship, Polarization: How democratically elected politicians get away with autocratizing their countries' and zoom in on what motivates Spanish voters to support undemocratic politicians.
